In North Devon, where two rivers converge and run into the sea, Detective Matthew Venn stands outside the church as his father’s funeral takes place. Once loved and cherished, the day Matthew left the strict evangelical community he grew up in, he lost his family too.

My Take
I’d just been to Devon on vacation and I liked Raven Black, another of her books, so picking this one from Kindle Unlimited was easy. (Yes, I’m doing another 3-month stretch of cheap Kindle Unlimited.) I liked the characters and the setting, and it was a good mystery. (And I’m proud of myself for figuring out a big reveal!) Not riveting like I need to dive right into the next one, but good.
