My Take
I read the first book in this series back in 2018 and marked it as a series to continue. In April 2025 I finally got back to it. Then I had to wait for the final book to come out in May so I could finish it. I love the premise of famous and not-so-famous fictional “monsters” being real people, and the tone of Jane-Austenish-with-the-occasional-well-place-F-bomb. The underlying theme of care resonates with me also. I wish there were more books in this series.
I also get a kick out of the fact that the author is married to another author I love, Arkady Martine, whose books are very different.
