Inspector Lynley
I have always loved this series. They’re mysteries, yes, but rich in detail and human interactions and not something you can or should rush through.
That's what I read (mostly)

I really liked the setting. The mystery itself might be only average if set in a more familiar place.
I can’t remember the last time I read one of these. (I’ve read the whole series.) I just read #17-19 in three days and remember now why I like these.
I devoured this book in about a day. It’s a dark book about dark topics. And unlike a lot of thrillers, the characters don’t feel like stereotypes plugged in to build a plot around.
I like all of Val McDermid’s work. This series might be my favorite. Not as dark as Tony Hill & Carol Jordan, but dark enough.
These two books were good mysteries but not great. Had I not really enjoyed the setting and the secondary characters (New Orleans) they would have been meh.
The plot is nicely twisted and the idea of killing off writers of murder mysteries is interesting. Lots of gore.
A fascinating look into the world of drug smuggling. Don’t ever take someone’s baggage through for them!
As an anglophile, I’m a sucker for most things British. These are some of my favourite mystery series set in Great Britain. (And yes, the spelling is deliberate.)
