Shōgun
First can I just say that I’m annoyed that I now have to buy two books in order to read this? Really? I still like the story.
Code Name Verity
Still on the spy novel spree, this is another book, like Legends & Lattes, that I’d seen lots of positive comments on.
The Baroque Cycle
No, there are no gaps in this blog. It actually took me about two months to read these three books. In my defense, they are three very long books. At no time did it feel like a slog. It was a nice, leisurely journey. For me, if not the characters.
Pirate Latitudes
I love how Michael Crichton just pulls you right into the story and the world of the book. Not his best work, certainly, but not the worst.
The Lion of Wales
Being novellas these are quite digestible and I find the series a light read. It’s refreshing to have a love story of mature, consenting adults. And a feisty heroine.
The Shadow of the Wind
It has a kind of meandering pace that allows you to easily set it down and pick it back up again. That’s not to say it’s boring but it’s pleasant. Like putting on a pair of shoes that fit well.
