I was surprised to find these books were written by a German author who’s never been to New Zealand? It sure sounded like she knew the place.

I did not like this one at all. Sooooo slooooow. And I’m okay with a slow book if it’s in a good way. This wasn’t.

The French Revolution from the perspective of the men AND women involved. Since women so often are left out …

Not her best work — that would be the Thomas Cromwell series — but a really good book about the French Revolution.

Pleasant reads, though I might have been disappointed had I paid for them.

There wasn’t a whole lot for me here. I found the characters flat and uninteresting.

Not his best work — I love his books — but an interesting plot and setting. This was a re-read for me.

I was intrigued to see a historical novel written by a historian, and about a period in British history about which I know relatively little.

I’ve been following this series since about 2011. I won’t say I’m sorry to see it go, since Uhtred’s tale is told, but I will miss the characters.

Another great setting and community from Stabenow that feels authentic. And good mysteries too.
