The Baroque Cycle

No, there are no gaps in this blog. It actually took me about two months to read these three books. In my defense, they are three very long books. At no time did it feel like a slog. It was a nice, leisurely journey. For me, if not the characters.

Pirate Latitudes

I love how Michael Crichton just pulls you right into the story and the world of the book. Not his best work, certainly, but not the worst.

The Lion of Wales Series

Being novellas these are quite digestible and I find the series a light read. It’s refreshing to have a love story of mature, consenting adults. And a feisty heroine.

It has a kind of meandering pace that allows you to easily set it down and pick it back up again. That’s not to say it’s boring but it’s pleasant. Like putting on a pair of shoes that fit well.
