My Take
Before reading this fifth book in the series, I reread the first four of A Court of Thorns and Roses. I’d been planning to do that and decided now was the time. It does read differently when you know what’s going to happen. I’d been dragging my feet on A Court of Silver Flames because I did not like Nesta’s character at all in the first four books. So I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this. Nesta is one of those characters where the internal is everything, since she so rarely shows emotion. I appreciated the coverage of dealing with mental health issues. Some of it hit uncomfortably close to home. The emphasis on female friendship and sister relationships was also nice. Romance is fine, but you need some balance.
I really hope there are more books in this world. I can see lots more stories to tell.
