Islands of Blood and Storm

This was a really tough read. A good one, but tough to get through. It’s all darkness, no real hope or light. Realistic, given the setting, and that the majority of the characters are slaves.

Mambo Reina

These two books were good mysteries but not great. Had I not really enjoyed the setting and the secondary characters (New Orleans) they would have been meh.

Noumenon

Whatever I was expecting, this was not it. Multiple points of view, one an AI. (A real AI, not the crap being shoved at everyone currently, that is not intelligent and the opposite of helpful.) I actually liked these AIs.

Frances Gorges Trilogy

I was intrigued to see a historical novel written by a historian, and about a period in British history about which I know relatively little.

Killing the Shadows

The plot is nicely twisted and the idea of killing off writers of murder mysteries is interesting. Lots of gore.
