The Hobbit
The plot trips along at a nice pace. It is a children’s book. I was first introduced to it in 5th grade when the teacher read aloud to us after lunch each day.

Noteworthy Books of 2023
2022 was a record year for reading. 2023 was more typical, with (only) 70 books read. These are books that stood out to me as I looked back over the list, in no particular order.
Great Cities Duology
I was thiiiiis close to bailing on the first book about 40% of the way in. It’s horrifically close to real life.
The Seventh Bride
Not my favorite T Kingfisher, I think mostly because I found Rhea, the main character, annoying.
The Grisha
So I’d heard about this trilogy – because I don’t live under a rock – and I’d even seen an episode of the Netflix series before I got around to reading this.
